- Weather Service in Phoenix.

- The current weather is usually updated every 30 minutes.
- I'm a co-operative observer for the National Weather Service and
- report daily temperature and rainfall data for east Mesa.

- Weather Instruments
- The temperature and humidity sensors are suspended 5 feet above ground
- in a former NWS weather shelter located about 25 feet from my house.
- A Rainwise WS1000CC Weather Station is the source
- for all web site temperature, humidity, and wind data.
- A P266 Toshiba Tecra 550 monitors the weather station and updates the website.
- The software used to read data from the weather station, create the HTML files
- and graphics, and upload them to the website was written by me using
- Quick Basic 5, Visual Basic 6, and Transoft Script Performer.

- 8 inch collector size - resolution 0.01"
- This gauge is mounted on a post about 12 feet from the weather shelter.
- It's the source for all web site current rainfall ammounts.
- National Weather Service rain gauge.

- Daily rainfall totals are taken from this gauge.
- Anemometer
- Wind speed and direction are measured at the highest point on the roof.
- Thermometer Accuracy
- A 12" mercury thermometer is used annually to verify calibration.
- Rain Gauge accuracy
- The Rainwise WS1000CC meets NWS standards
- and has proven to be very accurate
- even at high rainfall rates. Current rainfall
- totals are reported by this instrument.
- Daily rainfall totals are taken from a
- standard rain gauge with an 8 inch collector size
- provided by the National Weather Service.
- For this reason, daily rain totals may differ
- from the hourly reported totals.
