3/14/2010 - Wind speed and direction
A problem with the WS1000 weather station caused errors in
wind speed and direction. The back-up WS1000 is now being used
until the primary weather station can be repaired

Location
¾ mile WNW of Apache Trail and Ellsworth Rd. in east Mesa, Arizona
33° 25' 9" N , 111° 38' 42" W   elevation 1518 ft.

Most weather info on this web site comes from sensors located
at my home in Twin Knolls neighborhood, east Mesa, Arizona.
The county weather is provided by Maricopa County, and the state
weather is provided by the National Weather Service in Phoenix.
Sources for East Valley Weather are noted on that page

The current weather is usually updated every 30 minutes.

I'm a co-operative observer for the National Weather Service and
report daily temperature and rainfall data for east Mesa.

        NWS Station ID : EMSA3
NWS Station Name : East Mesa

Weather Instruments
The temperature and humidity sensors are suspended 5 feet above ground
in a former NWS weather shelter located about 25 feet from my house.

A Rainwise WS1000CC Weather Station is the source
for all web site temperature, humidity, and wind data.
A P266 Toshiba Tecra 550 monitors the weather station and updates the website.
The software used to read data from the weather station, create the HTML files
and graphics, and upload them to the website was written by me using
Quick Basic 5, Visual Basic 6, and Transoft Script Performer.

A 12" mercury thermometer is used annually to verify temperature calibration.

Anemometer
Wind speed and direction are measured at the highest point on the roof.

Rain Gauge
National Weather Service rain gauge.
8 inch collector - resolution 0.01"

Rainwise WS1000CC
8 inch collector size - resolution 0.01"
It's the source for all web site current rainfall ammounts.
This gauge is very accurate, but it will sometimes add .01" of rain
when there is a heavy morning dew. It may not be accurate when
rainfall is very heavy. For these reasons real time rainfall totals
should not be considered exact measures of total rainfall.
